Looking for a way to teach simple environmental issues, city planning, higher order thinking skills, and digital creation? One school in Sweden has made the use of the highly pixelated game of Minecraft a mandatory part of the curriculum. With the necessary safeguards and on a very limited scale, Minecraft has the ability to do what Second Life was trying to do with their educational islands – and do so in a way that’s accessible to 10-year-old students.
